Just ONE

There are about 7 billion people in the world today and out of those 313.9 million of them live in the U.S. 2.886 million live in the state of Kansas, and 53, 678 of them in the city of Manhattan. I attend Manhattan Christian College, and I am just one of 384 students. Just one. That’s all I am.

So what’s my purpose? How can I make a difference? If I’m just one out of 7 billion, what’s my part? There are 25 million people 18-24 in the U.S. I’m 21 and I am just one of those 25 million. But everyone in that age group is asking themselves the same questions that I am asking. If I’m just one, what can I do?

Jesus was just one. He was the only Son of God, the one Messiah, the only one who was worthy enough of dying for our sins. Jesus was just one. Now that’s a big example, but I think that it’s got truth in how much one can do, though none of us can ever compare.

I’m a student, I lead a small group of college sophomore girls, and a small group for high school girls. I am a high school youth group leader, a coach, an employee, and a friend. It’s a lot on my plate and I’m just one person, so am I making a difference or am I just filling my time?

My point in being just one is that I am just one, but my influence plays a much bigger part. I’m just one person, but I’m one person who can serve the Lord in everything I do. My attitude, my words, my actions all leave an impact. So what’s my purpose? To serve God fully in everything I do. I make a difference by my actions, words, and attitude. My part is standing out because I believe in the One true God. What can I do? I’m just one, but I can do anything. Being just one, I can serve the Lord. Being just one, I can work for the Lord. Being just one, I can make a difference. Being just one doesn’t mean that I’m alone. Being just one, I can be a part of the body of Christ. Are you going to be just one?

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

How many more workers does it take to make a difference? The answer…just one.

(Ozark Christian College is where I got the idea to write on just one. A few years ago I first heard of this idea, and it impacted my decisions in going into Ministry. I am just one. http://occ.edu/justone/)
